Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open
to men who are at least 18 years of age and are practical Catholics in union
with the
Holy See.
All new members to the
Knights are inducted as a First Degree Knight. Each degree fosters a specific
spirit for the Knights.
- The First
Degree fosters the spirit of charity. The Knights of Columbus is a
charitable organization. Through various fund-raisers and other events, the
organizations helps those in need.
- The Second
Degree fosters the spirit of unity. We are one organization devoted to
charitable works and deeds. We work together to help others. Any First
Degree Knight in good standing, may be inducted into the Second Degree at
any time.
- The Third
Degree fosters the spirit of fraternity. All Knights are brothers and we
stand by each other as brothers. Any Second Degree Knight in good standing,
may be inducted into the Third Degree at any time.
- The Fourth
Degree fosters the spirit of patriotism. Responsible citizenship and a love
of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active
membership
in local Fourth Degree groups (called
"assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor guards at
civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide
recognition to the Knights of Columbus.
Any Third Degree Knight in good standing,
after the one (1) year anniversary of being inducted into the Knights, is
eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree.
